Profhilo®

Profhilo® is a unique skin remodelling treatment that works by stimulating the production of collagen and elastin in the skin through the slow release of Hyaluronic Acid (HA).

Unlike other anti-ageing injectables that use fillers to add volume and stretch out the skin, Profhilo®uses hyaluronic acid a naturally occurring substance in the body to hydrate, firm and actually rebuild new, younger-looking skin cells.

This works on reversing the signs of ageing at a cellular level, stimulating new collagen and elastin cells, significantly improving the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and giving you firmer, more youthful skin on your face.

With dermal fillers, the results tend to be very localised because the gel only stays in the area in which it has been injected. However Hyaluronic Acid is different. Once injected it disperses evenly throughout the skin, so the effects are visible throughout your whole face, giving a much more even anti-ageing result.

What happens during treatment?

Before your treatment we will do a detailed consultation to ensure this is the right treatment for you. Then we will complete a through patient questionnaire and consent form along side with pre treatment photos that remain private in your records.

The treatment itself involves the product been injected in specific marked points on each side of the face,neck,hands or chest. These areas ensure that the Profhilo®will stimulate collagen and elastin production, while dispersing across the treatment areas.

For those nervous about needles, there’s nothing to worry about. The needles that are used are very small, so should not lead to much pain or discomfort. We can provide numbing cream if you wish before the treatment, which takes about 10 to 15 minutes to take effect.

What should I expect after the treatment?

After treatment, there can be some small lumps at the injection sites. This is normal, and they will reduce in size following treatment shortly. They can sometimes appear like a bee sting for the first 24 to 48 hours after treatment. 

We will provide you with the advice on how to look after your skin following treatment, and your practitioner is always available if you need any further advice. We recommend getting two treatments over a four week period to get the best results, as the second dose is typically when the true benefit can be achieved.

Is Profhilo®safe?

Profhilo®is considered safe and widely used in the aesthetic industry. The active component of Profhilo®is a slow releasing hyaluronic acid, which is similar to what is naturally produced in the skin.

Does it hurt?

You might experience some mild discomfort from the injections during treatment. In some cases patients experience some stinging or tingling during the injections, which should wear off shortly. Your practitioner can apply some anaesthetic cream to the area before treatment, which will eliminate most discomfort.

Can I have Profhilo ®if I’m pregnant?

We do not provide Profhilo®to patients who are pregnant or breastfeeding. 

Can I wear make up straight away?

We recommend waiting 6 hours after treatment before applying any skincare products or make up to the areas injected. 

Profhilo®, containing low & high molecular weight hyaluronic acid, is a Class III medical device for the treatment of the face and body for contours redefinition and laxity remodelling where skin laxity is a problem.
